State of the Author's Task Management

In the middle of trying to lure in audiences, I am enacting a cunning plan. Whether or not it works is up to the tender hands of fate and whether or not I'm any good at getting the word out. Spoilers - I suck at advertising so this might all collapse under its own weight.

Nevertheless, it's worth a try.

Als0 I am just one human bean and I have limits. I started with the vague idea of recording a story a day and keeping "the beast" fed and entertained. It turns out that editing a story video does soak up most of my day. It's not the video, nor the super-impositions I add for context and reference. It's the subtitle quality control.

Speech recognition software and I are maintaining our constant war. Even when it's speech recognition in the hands of Adorable.

I record myself reading a story. Doing what I can to make certain it's a good recording. No fumbles, stumbles, gabbling or mispronounciations. I cut those and re-record them in situ. Then I send the finished recording to Adorable, who has successfully made her software sit up and beg.

I do a majority of the video construction in OpenShot, then the subtitles in Kdenlive. That's what absorbs the hours. Doing that every day, and work on the novel, and do my daily offerings would likely burn me the heck out. I do know I have issues with Tuesdays, because they're already full of Patreon, daily offerings, and work on the novel. I end up feeling like I'm phoning something in.

Which is honestly not that great.

I have to keep reminding myself to be kind to me. It's a thing I'm trying. If I want it to work, then I have to work on it. I do have one person to help, and I am grateful for that. That's one more than I usually have.

If I get one more reader, that's one more than yesterday. So I have a little less time to do other things. I can still do them. And I'm not phoning things in. I'm doing what I can with what I've got in what time is available to me.

...and speaking of time, I must to get on with the daily offerings. There's also a video due today. You'll be able to see it here. Among a few others.
