Reasons to Love: Overly Sarcastic Productions

There's very few channels I follow on YouTube that I actually look forward to. For most of them, it's a pleasant surprise when they turn up in my feed. There's two channels that has me derailing all my plans to watch the latest episode. One of them is Dingo Doodles. The other one, as you may guess by the title, is Overly Sarcastic Productions.

There's two hosts - Blue, pictured with blue eyes and Red, who's illustrated with red eyes. Blue does history, Red does fiction. There's periodic deep dives where both hosts yap on for an hour or so regarding one particular topic. There's talk about various tropes and how they're done well or done badly. And there's a years-long retelling of Journey to the West.

Red looks at myths and legends, examines various stories through history, and looks into as many original sources as she can find. All while illustrating everything you see on the screen.

That's dedication to the bit, right there.

And, as you might guess, Red and Blue cover everything with a hefty layer of sarcasm and humour so even the dryest of topics is highly entertaining.

For the record - I keep coming back to Red's take on H. P. Lovecraft whenever I'm feeling down. It's excellent for a laugh.

You can go through their entire archive and find something interesting. You can watch their entire archive and watch Red's art skills improve from video to video. Or you can hop from topic of interest to topic of interest and gain a very sarcastic view of history and myth.

Look them up, find something in their extensive archive, and enjoy.

It's worth it.
