Feet, Please Stop Failing Me

I have two good arguments against the theory of "Intelligent Design"... my left foot and my right foot. Any foot designed by an intelligent designer would not have so many flaws pretending to be features. Most recent of which being my left ankle.

I managed to sprain my ankle in the process of getting out of my car in the Costco parking lot. Yes. Getting out of a seat gave me such a twinge in my ligaments that I'm still walking with a cane three days later. Also thanks to that, I have therapeutic bracers for five out of a total eight brace-able joints. Yay?

I did some research about that thing because my fail-joints are getting to be expensive, and found a model with multiple straps and a lace-up feature. Bonus points, it was available at the Priceline down the road.

Fun fact about needing an ankle brace - you need to stay off that ankle while you're getting the thing. So it's local or nothing. Gotta minimise those steps. Other fun fact - the only ones available there were the Thermoskin brand. Which is great if heat is needed to minimise your issue.

Similar fun fact - heat is the last thing I want because I live in sunny, sweltering Queensland. The place in Australia that has only two really cold months out of the year. I want to be able to use these things in other months of the year than those. Whether or not I'm in the middle of those chilling months right now is not the matter. It's the later on that has me by the priorities.

I never know when I'm going to need such a thing later on. Hence, making sure I have a model that's multiply useful.

It's why I have the more sturdy knee bracers. I need them every time I'm walking a lot. It's why I have a preference in wrist brace models. And now, why I have an ankle brace that cost a significant fraction of one hundred dollarydoos.

The downside of this fantastic brace is that it did not come with instructions. So part of my learning journey is figuring out the best way to wind the straps around myself so that it works to its best advantage. And trying not to cut off my circulation because a lot of bracers tend to do that.

There's a lot of peeling and re-sticking velcro in my life.

All of this nonsense impedes the healing of my other nonsense - the bone spurs in both my heels. I can't do the physio to help with those because of the aforementioned ankle issues. So much fun.

I'm anticipating some knock-on issues regarding this. All because I can't get out of a car without hurting myself.
